FAQ Self Tan:
During the development time of the self-tanner (4-8 hours depending on the product), particularly heavy sweating, e.g. through sport, should be avoided. Contact with water - especially salt water - should also be avoided.
The durability of the tan generally depends on many factors and can vary - how well you look after your skin and tan, where the self-tanner was used, how quickly your own skin renews itself, etc.. The durability therefore varies greatly. For many customers, our self-tanners last up to 7-10 days.
Tip: To maintain your tan for longer, you should apply cream daily after the tan has developed and after showering (preferably with a fragrance-free and oil-free product) and avoid salt water and chlorine.
Self-tanners generally do not last so well in salt water or chlorine as the upper layer of the skin is affected. A tip: Moisturize the skin before swimming in the sea or pool and after swimming, rinse off briefly with clear water, dry off and care for the skin again or refresh the tan with a gradual self-tanner.
Yes, but you must always use sun protection. Self-tanners do not protect against UV radiation:
Self-tanners only darken the top layer of skin. However, the skin does not form pigments that protect your skin from UV rays.
You still need a sun cream with a sufficient sun protection factor.
In around 10 to 15 percent of people, self-tanners generally do not work as they do not react to the active ingredient DHA. Dermatologists suspect that some people do not produce the crucial proteins for the tanning reaction with DHA in sufficient quantities.
The active ingredient DHA can have a less intensive effect in combination with fragrances and oil. For products such as our Self Tan Drops, an oil-free/perfume-free body lotion should therefore be used for mixing.
There is no scientific evidence against the use of self-tanner during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, we always recommend seeking advice from your own gynecologist.
